Red lighting preserves your night vision, a benefit for night driving The value (100 ohms? 1000?), but your dimmer should work fine then. It would take some experimenting to determine PS: For hardcore LED-er's, I supppose you could add a small inline resistor Toward the windshield, and I see much clearer even with the lights turned up. It stopped all the glare that was reflecting up My solution: I lined the bottom black surface of the instrument "window" I was getting glare up on the windshield even with the dash lights dimmed. This is why I'm staying stock, but in the interest of staying near topic: Red lighting preserves your night vision, a benefit for night driving. I can't think of a good reason to use blue in your dash lights. I think I'll put one of the old incandescent into the headlight switch and see how that works. I don't drive much at night but would be interested to hear what the OP finds if he does install some sort of filter. I had the same problem with the OEM lights too. That said, I get a glare on the windshield regardless of how dim they are (and my dash lights are blue). I have LEDs everywhere and my dimmer works fine. I choose the clock and the rear heater control light. My solution was to swap out an LED or two with incandescent bulbs and now they all dim down almost to zero. Ideally it would be cool to retrofit the dimmer with one that will work better with leds. And its really great, after trouble shooting the foil crap to fix tach issues with no luck its nice to have it back, as usual its a great product.īut I've found that the led lights don't really dim much and are so bright that I have reflections on the side window and windshield.Īnyone else have this issue? I'm thinking of just putting some kind of filter in the light box thing to cut down the glare. I recently installed the gowesty instrument cluster wiring harness.
